What I would really like to know is why Egypt kisses Israel's ass. Another thing, why isn't the UN insisting on sanctioning Israel for human rights violations? It disgusts me that the US has and continues to supply the money for Israel's weapons and I haven't figured out the why of that either. Must be some really rich and generous lobbiest. I wonder which party has benefitted the most from Israeli backed donations. Our own money come back to bribe our politicians. US taxpayers, do you know that you are partially responsible for what is happening there?

The Jews are the "chosen" people and can do what they want. Furthermore who would harm them??? They have America's military at their disposal. They are very heavily invested in our financial system. Hmmmm I am starting to wonder just a little here. I realize that all Christians have the old testament included in their bible and so the Jewish folks guarantee themselves a place and protection in that bunch.

Hello,
I live in the U.S.A., and I am a Christian, and I would very much like to know what we do not get? The so called Palestinians live in what is, and what was in Old Testament times part of the NATION OF ISREAL, and then along comes some IDIOTS, and think that it is right to sub divide up Isreal, and to make matters even worst we have people that do not know what God Almighty wants to happen running there mouths. We have more problems that way. I see people making a lot of noise for the Palestinians, and not to much for what they do when it comes to innocent BLOOD that they shed in Isreal. What are we suppose to think about that? I see very clearly what is happening here, and it is a way for all parties to take refuse in making Isreal the scape goat here again, and I as a Christan am sick, and tired of all this garbage that everybody wants to try, and start when it comes to the terrorist that they have to put up with right next to them. What are they suppose to do?, and then all of a sudden it is all ISREALS fault right? The Palestinians are as innocent as it comes right? They do not do anything wrong right? They have not shot rockets over into Isreal, and tried to kill innocent children, and older citizens of Isreal. Shame on you the writer of this article, I wish that somebody would be able to get you educated on the real facts on the Middle-East, and how it is going to be changing very rapidly in the next few yrs. If anybody reads my post here, and wants to e-mail me back go ahead. My e-mail address is bearone7777@yahoo.com. I am not ashamed on what I said. May God Bless all that read my post.

In reference to "Israel and Palestine, the US simply does not get it" I must say that you must not get something: the strong antipathy almost all Americans have toward muslims in general and Palestinians in particular. Terrorist=muslim; antiAmerican violence=muslim; antiChristian murder and mayhem=muslim; threat to persons travelling abroad=muslim; threat to peaceful nonmilitant muslims=muslim . . . Your group would do well to hire a polemicist, or at least contract with a few violent individuals who appear not to be muslim to perpetrate violence (kill nuns and priests, stab newmen, blow up cabarets and outdoor cafes, shoot women whose clothing flapped in the wind revealing a bit of skin, and so forth). Most Americans despise you and will launch Crusade after Crusade if the Holy Land is threatened--repeating history only with more fervor and more violence. Join with those nations that concentrate on getting along not getting even. Try coexistence without violence.

Everything you write about Israeal shows that you hate the Israealies. You talk about nothing but attaks by Israealies on Palastinians. You never talk about the Patestian attacks on Israeal.

You gripe, moan, groan and compalin about the US giving money to and supporting Israeal.

God's word say that He will bless those who bless Israeal and curse those who curse Israeal.

One of the reasons America bacame such a prosperous and powerful nation is because she has blessed Israeal.

You need to get to know God. May He have mercy on your devil deluded soul.

If Muslim entities surrounding Israel would cease lobbing ordinance into Israel, perhaps there would be no need to enforce a buffer zone surrounding Israel's borders!

Action Focus #1

Israel is the largest recipient of US. aid in the entire
world. It receives more aid than that given to all the
countries of sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the
Caribbean, put together.

Israel receives over $10 million dollars per day from the
United States, and there is evidence that the total figure
is closer to $15 million a day. Yet this information is
almost never printed in American newspapers. Coverage of
the Middle East in general, and of Israel in particular,
virtually never reports this enormous American connection
with this region.

Empowered by American money, Israel is occupying land that
does not belong to it, is breaking numerous international
laws and conventions of which it is a signatory, and is
promulgating policies of brutality that have been condemned
by the United Nations, the European Union, the National
Council of Churches, Amnesty International, the
International Red Cross, and numerous other international
bodies. This truth is also rarely reported.

Through the money and weaponry provided by the United
States, Israel is imposing an ethnically discriminatory
nation on land that was previously multicultural. There
is ethnic and religious discrimination inherent in its
national identity, and a doctrine of the supremacy of
one group over all others permeates its political,
financial, and military policies. This also is virtually
never reported.

There are a variety of organizations and individuals in
Israel who are protesting their government's policies,
and who are working strenuously and courageously on behalf
of human rights and justice. It is their intent to create
a just and fair nation with equal rights for all its
citizens. They are refusing to serve in the military
occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, and are actively
trying to prevent Palestinian homes from being bulldozed.
These actions are also not covered in the American media.

American support of the Israeli government is against our
national interest on every level: It places us at war
with populations whose desperate plight we are helping to
create, and who, quite correctly, place the responsibility
for their sufferings on us. It makes us an accomplice to
war crimes and an accessory to oppression. This also is
not reported.

In analyzing the American media, we are increasingly
discovering a cover-up of appalling proportions. Israel
is being protected, the news about Palestinians in
particular and Arabs in general is being distorted, and
the American public is being manipulated.

We believe strongly that if Americans knew the truth about
Israel and Palestine -- about the massive amount of our
tax money that is being given away to Israel, and about
the human costs of Israel's American-financed militarism
-- they would demand an immediate re-thinking of our
policies in this region.

It is the goal of If Americans Knew to inform the American
public accurately about this area. Most of all, it is to
inform Americans about our enormous, and too often
invisible, personal connection to it.

Americans, through our blank check to Israel, are
empowering the worst elements of Israeli society, and
undermining those working for a just, peaceful, and
nondiscriminatory nation.

We are driving the violence in this region.
We can stop it.

Seven hundred thousand Arabs, according to many accounts, were encouraged to abandon their property and businesses so as not to be injured when the armies of Egypt, Syria and Jordan promised to drive the Jews out of Palestine. But this did not happen. The Jews remained. So why, as reported last week, did these three Arab nations refuse to accept their own Arabic brothers and sisters as refugees? Palestinian Arabs, as I understand are a displaced people who are still refused by other Arabic nations. The Arabs of Gaza even had to blow up a wall that led to Egypt but were forced to return to Gaza. The wall between Gaza and Egypt has been rebuilt and Arabs in Gaza are still trapped. Oh, it must be the Jews' fault!

One source has suggested that within the Arabic culture there is type of caste system as in India and that the Palestinian Arabs are of a low caste, perhaps a slave caste who are sort of "untouchables". If this is so, then it is an Arab problem, period!

A dear friend of mine gave me the following opinion, which I agree with:

Although I am strongly at odds with the way Israel is handling the Palestinian situation, I understand why they are doing what they're doing in Gaza, even if they're implementation is awful. Is it better to occupy the territory so they can root out the terrorists and provide food, clothing and shelter to the innocent, or to blockade the entire population as they are doing? The citizens of Gaza, after all, voted in a terrorist organization as their government - one that not only refuses to recognize the state of Israel, but that has repeatedly called for its destruction and that participates in suicide bombings and launches rocket attacks into Israel proper.

It is one thing to negotiate a cease fire, but until they negotiate the recognition of territorial integrity, isolation would seem to be the only logical course of action. The problem is that an hermetic blockade is very much an act of war that is no less lethal than the use of bombs and bullets. I've long felt that so-called economic sanctions, which affect the civilian population and are designed to bring about regime change, are far from humanitarian. In fact, they tend to affect a society's weakest members first - the elderly, the sick and children, while leaving the rich and members of the military and the government completely unscathed. In this particular case, it may not be a bad idea to teach the Palestinian people a lesson for electing Hamas, or was it Hezbollah, but the result will only be to galvanize them and the rest of the world against the state of Israel.

What you and other readers should get out of this article is that Egypt is complicit in participating in the blockade of Gaza. In fact, all of the Arab states are complicit in participating in maintaining the status quo, and have been for decades. Israel provides more humanitarian aid to the Palestinians than all the Arab countries combined. Look it up if you don't believe me. It's a fact that you rarely find in the lay press. The fact of the matter is that poverty is an oft-used weapon of war.

What could Israel do differently? It'll never happen, because the Israeli citizens will never give up the settlements, but that's what they have to do. There is always a price to pay for peace. Let the Palestinians have their state, but they need a critical land mass to make that happen, and the settlements shouldn't have been built in the first place. The Palestinians for their part will have to give up on their dream of the right of return. Their land was partitioned, just as was India and Pakistan, for example. The original partition was unworkable, and there will have to be negotiations at a peace table to work out the final boundaries between Israel and Palestine, and the rest of the world should pitch in to provide financial aid to Palestine to make sure it has the resources to succeed as a new state - after all, peace is always in the world's best interest.

Just my two cents :)

A dear friend of mine gave me the following opinion, which I agree with:

Although I am strongly at odds with the way Israel is handling the Palestinian situation, I understand why they are doing what they’re doing in Gaza, even if they’re implementation is awful. Is it better to occupy the territory so they can root out the terrorists and provide food, clothing and shelter to the innocent, or to blockade the entire population as they are doing? The citizens of Gaza, after all, voted in a terrorist organization as their government – one that not only refuses to recognize the state of Israel, but that has repeatedly called for its destruction and that participates in suicide bombings and launches rocket attacks into Israel proper.

It is one thing to negotiate a cease fire, but until they negotiate the recognition of territorial integrity, isolation would seem to be the only logical course of action. The problem is that an hermetic blockade is very much an act of war that is no less lethal than the use of bombs and bullets. I’ve long felt that so-called economic sanctions, which affect the civilian population and are designed to bring about regime change, are far from humanitarian. In fact, they tend to affect a society’s weakest members first – the elderly, the sick and children, while leaving the rich and members of the military and the government completely unscathed.

Look it up if you don’t believe me. It’s a fact that you rarely find in the lay press. The fact of the matter is that poverty is an oft-used weapon of war.

What could Israel do differently? It’ll never happen, because the Israeli citizens will never give up the settlements, but that’s what they have to do. There is always a price to pay for peace. Let the Palestinians have their state, but they need a critical land mass to make that happen, and the settlements shouldn’t have been built in the first place. The Palestinians for their part will have to give up on their dream of the right of return. Their land was partitioned, just as was India and Pakistan, for example. The original partition was unworkable, and there will have to be negotiations at a peace table to work out the final boundaries between Israel and Palestine, and the rest of the world should pitch in to provide financial aid to Palestine to make sure it has the resources to succeed as a new state – after all, peace is always in the world’s best interest.
